If you are thinking of doing a university degree abroad, you may be considering countries like the US, the UK, Australia and Canada. But if you want an option different to these traditional destinations, or want to experience a new culture while working towards your degree, this article may give you an answer – Japan, where internationalization of tertiary education is burgeoning and affordable education with scholarship opportunities is provided to overseas students.
While courses taught in English are mainly offered at graduate schools, an increasing number of universities, including the University of Tokyo, are offering selected undergraduate courses in English. The following website by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will be a good starting point in planning your tertiary education in Japan.

<The University of Tokyo>
The University of Tokyo is Japan’s leading university, placed 39th in the World University Rankings (Times Higher Education 2016-2017), and 7th in the Asia University Rankings (Times Higher Education 2017). Tokyo has already released its application guidelines and forms for the 2017-18 PEAK programme applications. As it will take time to complete Tokyo’s application forms and essays, it’s advisable to start working on it soon.
